Site cleanup from environmental site assessment to equipment and waste removal

Our client’s manufacturing site had been out of production for many years, and they were in the process of selling it. However, because of the long time since operation, our client didn’t have the staff on-site to conduct a cleanup. We were hired to be solely responsible for cleanup, government communications, and land handover.

First, we conducted an exit phase I&II environmental site assessment, a general health and safety assessment, and an interview with stakeholders (government and buyers) to identify the potential environmental, health, and safety risks and liabilities—as well as to determine the expectations of different stakeholders. After that, we developed and implemented a site closure plan including closed-circuit television inspection for the underground diesel tank, equipment decontamination, and chemical and waste collection, storage, classification, and disposal. We dismantled a painting booth, removed air emission treatment facilities, cleaned up sumps, pits, and trenches, removed signage and posters with our client's logo, and conducted workshops with the stakeholders.

Our team successfully cleaned the site, followed the local regulation requirements, addressed the comments of different stakeholders, and helped the client complete the land transfer in a timely and cost-effective way.
